Learning Designer
Overview
This project was designed as a result of a training request from a business client. The client needed a quick and succinct training that would teach new clinic office workers how to read an insurance card and understand each of the components. Additional parameters of the request included that it not use audio or video as not all clinic office workers would have access to computers with speakers or headphones.

To meet the goals of this project, I chose to utilize Articulate Storyline to create the module. Due to the audio constraints, it required there to be more text on slides than I would normally use. I still tried to incorporate visuals where appropriate to drive home the learning concepts. I also created a few visuals that had clickable components to increase learner engagement and drive information retention.
Process
For this project, there was minimal subject matter expert support. After conducting a thorough needs assessment to determine what information was necessary to include in this project, I organized the information into a visual storyboard to more easily map out what I hoped to create in the end product. Once the storyboard was in place, I began to design in the Storyline software. Storyline allowed me to create slides that could include a larger amount of text while also still requiring the learner to engage with the content. Utilizing the triggers and layers functions in Storyline allowed me to create the clickable images to serve as an in course activity. The client also required there to be a knowledge check at the end of the course. I created this knowledge check to provide real time feedback should the learner get a question wrong.

Results and Takeaways
Ultimately this course served its purpose and provided the information and training needed to help clinic office workers. This module was well received by the SMEs and Stakeholders involved in the project as well as by the end users in the clinic offices.

If I were to do this project again, without the constraints posed by not having access to audio, I would include some interactivity or gamification in order to further engage the learner with the content. I would utilize video and screen capture to better show the elements of an insurance card. I would also include elements of storytelling to further engage the learner and help them better visualize and understand the course content.
